Jamalpur District is located in the south of west and Sherpur district of Mymensingh district. Islampur is one of seven upazilas of Jamalpur district. Dewanganj and Baksiganj in the north of Islampur upazila, Melandah and Madarganj on the south, Sadar and Shrivardi upazilas of Sherpur district and Bogra and Gaibandha districts on the west. Islpur Upazila's area is 353 sq km.
Geography Nature: River Yamuna flows through the river Yamuna on the western side of Islampur upazila and the Brahmaputra flowing through the northeast region. Problems: The breakdown of Brahmaputra and Jamuna rivers throughout the year is the biggest problem of this upazila.
